Workshop: Bamboozled by Google? Better use of Google, Google Scholar and other academic search engines in the Human Sciences

Topics to be covered will include:

· Effective and planned searching of Google using the Advanced Search options and limits
· A look at other Google services such as Google Books, Google Earth and Google Scholar
· Other search engines e.g. Ask, Exalead, Turboscout, Scirus and custom search engines
· Accessing the “Deep” or “Hidden” web
· Locating quality websites using evaluated subject listings (directories and portals)
· Evaluating websites
