NPG expands 'green' and 'gold' open access options for authors
NPG is increasing open access choices for authors in 2009 through both 'green' and 'gold' open access publication routes.
A 'gold' open-access option, whereby articles can be made open access subject to a publication fee, is now available to authors submitting original research to Molecular Therapy, published by NPG on behalf of the American Society of Gene Therapy, and to ten journals owned by NPG. The journals offering this option are: Cancer Gene Therapy, European Journal of Clinical Nutrition, Genes and Immunity, International Journal of Impotence Research, Journal of Exposure Science and Environmental Epidemiology, Journal of Human Hypertension, Journal of Perinatology, Molecular Psychiatry, The Pharmacogenomics Journal and Prostate Cancer and Prostatic Diseases.
Continuing its support for the 'green route' to open access on high-impact journals through self-archiving, NPG has also extended its Manuscript Deposition Service to include 32 further titles. Forty-three journals published by NPG now offer the free service to help authors fulfil funder and institutional mandates for public access. A full list of participating journals is available here.
For more information on NPG's expanded 'green' and 'gold' routes to open access, please see http://www.nature.com/press_releases/greengold.html .

ENQUIRY BASED LEARNING
UCD is currently involved in several student centered approaches to teaching and learning. These include
- Enquiry- Based Learning,
- Problem-Based Learning
- Large Class Projects.
What is Enquiry-Based Learning?
Within an enquiry-based learning environment, learning is centred on the student and driven by enquiry. Students work in small groups, with a member of staff as group facilitator. They are presented with a scenairo which acts as a starting point and generates questions and issues
The library has launched a Webpage examining these approaches and also how the Library can support PBL.
